Due to COVID-19, our office us currently operating under reduced hours.

Cook Chiropractic is located in Harrisville, WV. Joanna Cook, DC has been practicing chiropractic since 2005. Dr. Cook is also a clinical nutritionist and can help you with your health needs, from diet and exercise  to support of health issues. We are located at 404 N Penn Ave in the Oakwood section of Harrisville. 

Dr. Joanna Cook is a chiropractor in Ritchie County, WV, serving Ritchie, Wood, Wirt, Doddridge, Pleasants, and surrounding areas. Located at 404 N Penn Ave., Harrisville WV 26362. 304-966-6344. Because Dr. Cook has chosen to be home more with her children, and because of the ever-increasing time involved in insurance billing, she is currently not accepting most insurances; however, we will be glad to give you a receipt that you can use to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Office visits are $40.00 each, with family plans and low-income plans available.

Dr. Cook is both a chiropractor and a clinical nutritionist. She sees many patients from surrounding counties such as Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Wirt, Wood, and Pleasants counties. Located half-way between Parkersburg and Clarksburg, Harrisville provides access to many in between.

Chiropractic Care:

Dr. Cook uses techniques such as Pierce, Diversified, Activator, and Thompson. The cost of an adjustment is $45 per visit.

Additional therapies offered by our office include:

  • Flexion Distraction Therapy– beneficial for disc herniation/bulge/rupture and degenerative joint disease (DJD) Some insurances cover, or it can be added on as a self-pay therapy for an additional $10 per session
  • Cold Laser Therapy (low-level laser therapy, LLLT)-helpful in wound healing and increasing the rate of healing of injured tissue. Light therapy is completely painless. You may feel a slight tingling sensation, but usually clients feel nothing at all. $10 per session
  • Electric Muscle Stimulationtherapy for muscle spasms and increasing blood supply to an area. $20 per session
  • Recommended Exercises movement speeds healing in many cases. Dr Cook can prescribe exercises to help strengthen your body and resolve your symptoms.
  • Specialized Massage Chairhas settings specific for Therapy, Circulation, Relaxation, and can perform massage in one particular trouble spot. It has several settings including Shiatsu massage, Rolfing, Kneading, Tapping, and Clapping massage. $5 for 5 minutes, $30 for 30 minutes, etc.
  • Myo-fascial Technique– Dr. Cook is passionate about teaching self-care in the world of myofascial work. Myofascial release provides relief of many physical ailments. It is covered by some insurances, such as BCBS and UMR/PEIA, or can be a self-pay service. One 15-minute session is $20. 30 minute session is $35. Therapy is done over clothing.
  • Near-Infrared Therapy– NIR is effective for pain relief, neuropathy, skin issues, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, increased circulation, and sports injuries. This therapy is not currently covered by insurance. $20 per 15-minute session
  • Infrared Sauna Therapy– An add-on bonus or stand-alone therapy, (and sadly, not covered by insurance), IR sauna therapy helps detox the body by heating the person, not the air around him/her, so the sauna doesn’t have to get as hot as a traditional steam sauna. IR saunas are helpful for those with thyroid conditions and is relaxing to the body alone or combined with other therapies. Great in the winter! $30 per half hour

Nutritional Therapies:

As a nutritional therapist, Dr. Cook can help you reach your health goals, including nutritional help for health conditions such as weight issues, diabetes, heart issues, and digestive and immune system challenges. While she doesn’t advise on the use of medicine, she assesses the benefits of your current nutritional needs in conjunction with your current therapies. Many symptoms and “diseases” can be cured by simply feeding the body what it needs, and/or removing what it doesn’t.

Dr. Cook attended WVU, graduating with a bachelors degree in Human Nutrition and Foods. She then attended Sherman Chiropractic College in Spartanburg, SC, where she attained her doctorate in Chiropractic.

Prenatal Chiropractic Care: Dr Cook treats pregnant women and infants as well. She is passionate about pregnancy and uses the Webster Technique for helping breech babies turn and for optimal fetal positioning (vs. posterior presentations, etc.) Simple, gentle techniques can save hours of struggle and worry and a better outcome for baby and mama!
